WORRIED ABOUT RECEDING GUMS?

There are many different reasons that gum recession occurs ,aggressive brushing, orthodontics, tooth grinding, periodontal disease or lack of gingival tissue which gives you the appearance of very long teeth.  Nothing ages a smile and face more than receding gums. Receding gums can also cause tooth sensitivity along with decay. If left untreated could lead to teeth loss.  Gum recession affects over 50% of the population to some degree.

Dr. Schmidt is proud to offer this innovative new  rejuvenating solution for gum recession.  Traditionally , a periodontist needed to harvest gum tissue from the roof of the patient's mouth.  A  flap or tunnel was made in the front of the teeth and the tissue sewn on.  Only two to three teeth could be treated at one time as the donor site had to heal, which was so painful.  Patient would need to be out of work for a week or on narcotics.  What makes the PST so revolutionary it uses a 0.1 inch "pinhole" opening to move a patient's gum line to its healthy, and natural positioning.  With this technique up to 15 teeth can be corrected in one to two hours.  Healing time is reduced from 3 weeks for traditional gum surgery using gum grafting to one day with the gum rejuvenation technique.

SUCCESS RATE OF PST

rate of success of the PST is comparable to the highest rate of 90% attributed to traditional methods, according to a 33-month study of 43 patients. PST not only treats natural teeth affected by gum recession, but also crowns and bridges.  With PST the crown or bridge can be restored to a natural, well-fitting look.
